Financial Leasing Explained

Financial leasing is a financing product whereby a leasing company acquires assets specified by the lessee from an appointed seller and transfers them to the lessee's temporary possession and use for an established fee, for an agreed duration and on fixed terms and conditions. Upon expiration of the lease contract, the leased assets are transferred to the lessee's ownership provided that the lessee has fulfilled all the terms and conditions of the contract.

Main features of machinery and equipment leasing:

• the leasing company provides financing for all expenditures related to the acquisition of equipment and operation for the whole duration of the lease; the leased assets are accounted on the balance sheet of the leasing company for the whole duration of the lease. The system has the following advantages:
• increasing the lessee's working assets
• the duration of the lease is equal to the duration of accelerated depreciation (an average of 3 to 4 years)
• all lease payments are included in the production costs incurred by the lessee

Other benefits:

• for the duration of the lease, property tax is paid by the leasing company;
• established contacts with a large number of Western manufacturers;
• for the duration of the lease, equipment insurance is provided by the leasing company or the lessee;
