2009
- It is the second time that Raiffeisenbank has supported the Moscow International Festival of Children’s Theatre, Bolshaya Peremena, which was held from October 30 to November 8, 2009, in Moscow, acting as an official partner of the event. Bolshaya Peremena is held on the initiative of the Practice theatre, the Russian Culture Ministry and the Moscow Government. Among its participants, there are directors from Italy, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, U.S.A., Latvia (a total of almost three dozen performances). The special programme of the festival comprised practical studies and trainings, round-table conferences, readings and discussions of plays. A part of the ticket receipts from all performances was made available to socially disadvantaged families through various charitable foundations. Also, as part of the festival, there were a whole series of performances in hospitals and boarding schools. The Puppet House theatre performed in the Aleksinsky Children’s House in the Tula Region.
- The Jazz Province international musical festival finished in the Central Region. In November, Raiffeisenbank became the general partner of the festival in Voronezh, Stary Oskol and a partner in Kursk. The concerts were held on October 27, 28 and 29 in Voronezh, on November 2, in Stary Oskol, on October 31 and November 1 and 3, in Kursk. This year, the festival featured Russian and foreign musicians, with a total of 14 teams from 8 countries: the Tony Cimorosi Quartet, USA; Mike Klark, USA; Nicholas Bird, USA; Oleg Kireev Quarter, Russia; Romero & Moran, USA, Russia; Jazz Province Project, USA, Russia; Veronika Mortensen Quartet, Denmark; Aleksey Kruglov and Round Band, Russia; Lemsch Lemann / Michael Beutelspacher, Germany; Aleksey Kuznetsov, Russia; Evgeny Ryaboy, Russia; Erly Leonard, USA; Sangam Project, India/ Russia; Stekpanna, UK/ Denmark/ Sweden; Vision Project, Russia; ManSound, Ukraine. The mission of the festival was to showpiece modern improvisation music to its admirers in European Russia.
- In June, Raiffeisenbank acted as a partner for the biggest open-air jazz project in Russia, Usadba: Jazz, which took place on 6 and 7 June 2009 at the Arkhangelskoe country estate in Moscow. The Usadba:Jazz festival, which had already become a traditional event held at the beginning of summer, rejoiced the hearts of its audience this year with the performances of more than 30 Russian and foreign groups. This year, America’s famous Branford Marsalis Quartet performed, as well as Moscow audience favourites Nino Katamadze and Insight, the legendary avante-garde rock group Auktsyon, funk guru Nils Landgren and Funk Unit, virtuoso violinist Aleksei Aigi and the 4’33″ ensemble, and many others.
- Thanks to the sponsorship of the Raiffeisenbank Volga Branch, the boys choir team ‘Vyatka Nightingales’ visited a youth festival Megaherz (Mega Hearts) in Austria in May. In the old Austrian castle of Wineberg, the Kirov-based Nightingales recorded their disk and were able to rehearse before concerts. As part of the festival, the choir performed in the town of Puchenau, in the Zaltzburg Cathedral, in the mountain church of Pestlingberg, in the Linz Church and the Czech castle of Hoenfurt. The Nightingales performed the works by Michael Haydn accompanied by the Austrian symphonic orchestra and Russian folk and spiritual music.
- In May, Raiffeisenbank acted as an official partner for the Eurovision 2009 contest, which was held for the first time in Moscow this year in the Olympic Sports Complex. «We highly value the opportunity that the organisers of such a popular contest in Europe have given us,» notes Raiffeisenbank’s CEO Pavel Gurin. «Like the structure of the Raiffeisen International Group, Eurovision embraces all of the Central and Eastern Europe, putting together our target audiences’ needs. It is great to feel that we are involved in the organisation of such a grand and large-scale show to be watched by millions of viewers in different countries at the same time. We are proud of the chance to be among the first to support Eurovision event in Russia.»
- In April, ZAO Raiffeisenbank’s Volgograd network bank was the general sponsor of the premiere of the Baby and Carlson Who Lives on the Roof children’s show. Children from the Source Regional Social Rehabilitation Centre for the Minors State Institution were invited to the gala night held in Volgograd Youth Theatre. Representatives of the City Administration and of the Administration of Krasnoarmeysk Region of the City of Volgograd were also present at the premiere. The Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren’s children’s literary masterpiece staged by the young and festive actors left an unforgettable impression on the children.
- In April, Raiffeisenbank acted as a partner of ComMission, a comics festival, attended by more than 500 comics artists from various countries. The extensive exhibition program, interactive projects, lectures, and master classes held by famous artists give a chance to know better the comics genre, which is a specific type of graphic art.
- In the city of Omsk, the Seventh Citywide Children’s Drawing Contest, «I Love Omsk 2009», took place in April with the support of Raiffeisenbank. More than 11,000 pupils from 98 schools of Omsk showed their works at the contest. About 500 of the participants’ works made it through the first qualification, and 58 works became finalists and were voted on electronically. The winners were awarded prizes at a ceremony that took place on 28 April at the Young Spectators’ Theatre.
- In January 2009, Raiffeisenbank was an official sponsor of the first International music festival «Mozart Days in Moscow», which was held in Rakhmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The festival is a part of the European Mozart Weeks supported by the International Mozart Foundation and the Austrian Embassy. The most outstanding young musicians and the young symphony orchestra DSCH took part in the festival. They played the most popular Mozart compositions such as: symphonies, overtures, arias, concert for a violin with an orchestra, piano quarter.
2008
- In November 2008, the 7th Open Russian Schnittke Contest of young composers was held in Saratov. The music competition took place in L.V. Sobinov Saratov State Conservatory, which is among the oldest conservatories in Russia. Young composers from Saratov, Moscow, Kazan, Astrakhan, Lipetsk and other cities took part in the contest.
- Raiffeisenbank sponsored a piano concert performed by a legendary Austrian pianist, Alfred Brendel, which was held on November 14 in the Conservatory’s Grand Hall. As part of the last concert season in his career, the musician played the «Patriarch’s Solo» and compositions of Viennese composers.
- Raiffeisenbank was an official partner of the second Moscow international festival of theater for children, «Noon Recess,» which was held from October 31 through November 9 in Moscow. During the holidays, the festival gave a great opportunity to children and their parents to see the best Russian and European plays. This year, 15 best plays from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Marians and Samara were shown in the festival. Famous theaters from France, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia, Bulgaria and Denmark also attended the festival.
- From October 3rd to October 12th, an exhibition of the Austrian sculptor Hortenzia Fussy was held in the Central House of Artists, supported by ZAO Raiffeisenbank. Hortenzia continues the development of art in Austria, which was begun by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, artist Herbert Boeckl, and sculptor Joseph Pillhofer. Personal exhibitions of Hortenzia Fussy took place in Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic and the USA.
- In October 2008, the exhibition of famous artists of Nizhny Novgorod «An Open City» was held in Vienna, Austria, with a great success supported by the Povolzhskiy branch of ZAO Raiffeisenbank. The exhibition was organized by the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Vienna, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ mission in Nizhniy Novgorod, and Nizhegorodskiy Foundation «The Russian Art,» supported by the Russian Embassy in Vienna and the government of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region. The purpose of the project was to familiarize the foreign public with Russian art.
- In October, the Krasnoyarsk Museum Center, supported by Raiffeisenbank, Krasnoyarsk Ministry of Culture and the Euro-Art Center, hosted the «Iconographic Scenes» exhibition by Marc Chagall. Raiffeisenbank was a general sponsor of the exhibition. Earlier, Chagall paintings made a great success in Norilsk, Nizhniy Novgorod and Moscow. 100 aquafortis created by the artist in 1930- 1939 and 1952- 1956 were exhibited at the event.
- In September 2008, ZAO Raiffeisenbank was a sponsor of the 17th traditional cinema festival of the CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which took place in Anapa. The festival has old and glorious traditions. During the 17 years of its existence it has become an integral part of cultural life of the city. Every year it is attended by film-makers working in all cinema styles and professions, it offers a unique chance for constructive dialogue, raising interest in the national culture, opening new talents.
- In May 2008, Raiffeisen Group sponsored the Euro Area Studies competition in Serbia.
- In May 2008, the bank's Zheleznogorsky branch supported the Zheleznogorsk School of Arts' participation in the 3rd All-Russian Children's and Youth Competition «Moscow-Belgorod Transit-Rose Winds 2008». Festival participants included talented children from Kursk, Bryansk, Voronezh, Vladimir, Murmansk, Orel, Tula, Smolensk, Moscow and other Russian cities.
- In May 2008, with support from Raiffeisenbank and the government and legislative council of the Rostov Region, the government of Taganrog and the Russian Union of Theatrical Professionals the 1st F.G Ranevskaya International Theatrical Festival was held at Taganrog's Chekhov Drama Theater.
- In April 2008, Raiffeisenbank sponsored the 3rd All-Russian Festival of Russia's Oldest Theaters in Kaluga. Participants in this traditional event included drama theaters from Yaroslavl, Saratov, Tula, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Belgorod and Minusinsk.
- In April 2008 in Perm, Raiffeisenbank provided support to the Junge Stimmen (Young Voices) choir, whose repertoire includes over 500 compositions performed by the full choir, as well as quintets, trios, duets and soloists. Most of the works are by German and Austrian composers.
- In April 2008, Raiffeisenbank's Siberian branch and the German Consulate in Novosibirsk organized performances in a number of Siberian cities by Otto Steffel, a graduate of the Vienna School of Art's Acting Division and one of the best-known interpreters of the work of Heine.
- In February 2008, with support from the Moscow Philharmonic, the Austrian Cultural Center, and Raiffeisenbank the debut performance of the Vienna Virtuosos chamber ensemble was held at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow.
- In January 2008, with support from Raiffeisenbank, the 1st International Children's Music Festival «Mozart and Tchaikovsky» was held in the Greater Hall of the Conservatory's Central Children's Musical School; the participants included talented young musicians from Austria and Russia.
- For the second straight year, Raiffeisenbank sponsored the By the Bridge drama theater, an important contributor to the cultural development of Perm and the surrounding region.
Sport:
2009
- A large-scale sports festival with the participation of well-known sportsmen from the Novosibirsk Region and Kuzbass was held in boarding school No 19 of the Russian Railways in Novokuznetsk in September, with the support of the Raiffeisenbank Siberian Branch. As part of the event, Alexander Karelin, Vyacheslav Ivanenko, Victor Markin, Irina Minch and other reputable sportsmen visited children in the boarding school. It is for the second consecutive year that Raiffeisenbank has acted as a partner to the ‘Olympic Sportsmen to Children’ project organized by the Karelin Foundation. The purpose of the Karelin Foundation is to promote healthy living, exercise and sports using the example of professional sportsmen who have won the Olympic medals, world and European champions. Pupils from schools and boarding schools are the recipients of this physical education. The delivery of sporting equipment has become a tradition of the ‘Olympic Sportsmen to Children’ project. Several dozen pairs of skis, skates, footballs and volleyballs were purchased with the funds provided by the Raiffeisenbank Siberian Branch.
- In June, the Raiffeisenbank Urals Branch acted as the General Partner of the Sverdlovsk Region Governor Cup in horse racing. The tournament was held under the auspices of the Russian Horse Racing Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Physical Training, Sports and Tourism of the Sverdlovsk Region. Sportsmen from Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, and Magnitogorsk took part in the contest for the Governor’s Cup. In the inauguration ceremony, the Sverdlovsk Governor Eduard Rossel noted: «The contest we participate in today opens up a page of ‘modern history’ in the development of horse racing in the Middle Urals. The jumping competition is the most popular sport that is an Olympic discipline.»
- Ceremonial opening of the 2009 Russian mini-golf season took place in May in Sochi with the support of ZAO Raiffeisenbank. The competitions held under the aegis of the Russian Golf Association, took place from 1 through 3 May at the Olimpijsky-Dagomys Holiday Hotel mini-golf club. The best athletes from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, and Sochi participated.
- From January 31 to February 1, 2009, a Russian Championship in sport dance among junior dancers was held in Kstovo, supported by Povolzhskiy , a branch of ZAO Raiffeisenbank. 18 age groups took part in the competition. All participants were broken by age into groups — «Children» and «Juniors» (from 9 to 15 years) and groups «Youth» and «Adults» (from 16 to 35 years). Dance teams from 62 cities of Russia and former Soviet republics sent their applications to take part in the championship. A jury of 80 members consisted of the leading specialists of the Sport Dance Federation of Russia, judges of the highest and international categories.
2008
- In December 2008, the Barnaulskiy branch of ZAO Raiffeisenbank was a general sponsor of the Second Municipal Tournament in artistic gymnastics for the awards of the Merited Sports Master, Sergey Horohordin. The tournament was held in Barnaul on the premises of CJSS No.3 of the Olympic Reserve and became the brightest event of the year in sports and social life of the city.
- In December 2008, the Saratovskiy branch of ZAO «Raiffeisenbank» was a sponsor of the 5th Traditional Tournament in rhythmic gymnastics, «Winter Tale». The competition took place under the aegis of the sport society, «New generation of rhythmic gymnastics,» supported by Irina Viner. Interestingly, in every age category, Saratov gymnasts were among the winners. It proves that children’s sports have been actively developing in this region. These competitions in Saratov enabled local gymnasts get rating points, which is very important for winning a sports rank.
- From November 2008 to late January 2009, a mini-football tournament among children’s teams, born in 1998-1999, was held. Sports school pupils from Tumen took part in the competition. In the finals, the winners were awarded with valuable prizes, goblets and medals by ZAO Raiffeisenbank.
- On September 30, the «Day of Health» was held in Omsk at boarding-school No. 20, owned by OAO Russian Railways, organized by the public organization The Karelin Foundation. That day, Olympic winners came to visit young citizens of Omsk: Alexander Karelin (Greco-Roman wrestling), Irina Minh (basketball), Evgeniy Podgornyi (artistic gymnastics), Viktor Markin (track and field), Vladimir Barnaschov (biathlon), Ivan Dvorniy (basketball), multiple world champion Anastasia Glouhih (diving). Sports uniforms and equipment was presented to boarding-school No. 20 by ZAO Raiffeisenbank and The Karelin Foundation.
- In September 2008, a track and field tournament was held in Nizhnekamsk of the Tatarstan Republic, supported by the Izhevsk branch of ZAO Raiffeisenbank. 200 sportsmen, including coaches, came from Izhevsk to compete with their rivals from Ufa, Kazan, Samara, Sterlitamak and other cities of the Volga Region and find out who is the strongest among more than 500 sportsmen. For many young runners, this competition has become a major stage in their preparation for the winter National Competition.
- From July 7 to July 12, 2008, Upper Austria Cup football tournament among juniors was held in Wels, supported by the Volgo-Viatskiy branch of ZAO Raiffeisenbank. For many years, Wels has been inviting youth from all over the world to take part in the international competition. The tournament became a representative youth sport event in Austria in 2008. 200 teams and 4,000 participants of 30 nationalities took part in it. Two youth football teams from Kirov were the only representatives of Russia at this tournament.
- Raiffeisenbank sponsors the Child Olympians project organized by the A. Karelin Fund in Novosibirsk, which organizes meetings between Olympic champions and children from orphanages, boarding schools and other educational institutions, forming the material-technical foundation for physical culture and sport.
- In June 2008, with support from the bank's Belgorod branch, Belgorod's Salyut Energia youth football team took part in the Annual International Youth Football Festival in St. Petersburg.
- In June 2008, with support from Raiffeisenbank, the Russian Race Walking Championship was held in Saransk.
- In May 2008, with support from Raiffeisenbank, an international youth football tournament was held in Yekaterinburg, including six under-19 teams from Austria, Germany and Russia.
- In May 2008, the bank's Khabarovsk branch participated in a Pankration tournament.
- In April 2008, Raiffeisenbank's Kubansky branch sponsored a mini-golf tournament. Participants included teams from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Moscow, Samara, Nizhegorodsk and Krasnodar regions.
- In February 2008, the bank's Blagoveshchensk branch provided support for the Ski Russia 2008 project, a large-scale federal-level event held annually in dozens of cities across the country; this was the second straight year that the event included Blagoveshchensk.
