On November 30 the Second Ceremony of the National Banking Awards for2006 took place. The awards were founded by the Association of RussianBanks and the“National Banking Magazine”. Raiffeisenbank was named the Best Foreign-owned Bank in Russia that contributed most to the development of Russian economy.
The gala ceremony was held at the Reception Hall of the Administrationof the President Russian Federation in Moscow’s Sparrow Hills district. This year 19 credit institutions became laureates of National Bank Awards. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the presidential administration, senior managers from the Central Bank of Russia and major Russian banks, and leading members of the mass media.

The National Banking Awards are among the banking community’s most prestigious awards. The major objectives of the awards are to promote the public image of the Russian banking system, provide Russian banking customers with clear, objective guidelines for choosing banks, and contribute to the openness and transparency of the banking system and the formation of the banking elite.
