In July 2004 VISA International, following VISAOlympics campaign results, held in April - June, announcedstatistics regarding noncash transactions made by clients in thestated period. As a principal member of VISA International paymentsystem Raiffeisenbank took an active part in thecampaign.
During a 3 months` period clients of banks thatparticipated in the campaign (an overwhelming majority of Russianbanks who are principal members of VISA) conducted 5,015,124transactions. The total number of operations carried out byRaiffeisenbank`s cardholders accounted for 362 851 or7.2%.
Raiffeisenbank`s clientele demonstrates activeusage of cards in shops, restaurants, and other places. Visanoncash transactions growth dynamics in Raiffeisenbank threefoldexceeded average growth rate in the market segment.
According to the results of the campaignRaiffeisenbank is in the list of 10 banks in terms of the number ofnoncash transactions and ranks 4th in terms of VISAtransactions.
In June 2004 number of cards, issued byRaiffeisenbank exceeded 100 000. Moreover, the number of the Bank`sindividual clients represented remarkable increase (i.e. 107,4%)over the previous year and beginning of August 2004 Raiffeisenbankwelcomed its 100 000th client.
Raiffeisenbank entered Russian retail market in1999 and ranks 12th among the largest Russian banks by assets and11th in terms of profitability based on H1 2004 results (RAInterfax).
Retaining the position of a leading foreign bank on the localmarket Raiffeisenbank is ranked 8th in terms of private depositsamong retail banks in Russia with private deposit base of more thanUSD 532 mln (RA Interfax, H1 2004 results). The Bank is also the4th largest bank in Russia in terms of consumer lending (Interfaxas of H1 2004), the private loan portfolio amounting to USD 219mln, which illustrates 54,2% growth from 2003 year-end figure (USD142 mln).
